As a trailblazer in her field, Atlanta native Tamika ´GeorgiaMe´ Harper is a multiple award-winning writer, producer, and widely acclaimed spoken word performer. Her powerhouse poetic expressions first found their way to regional audiences in the south where she broke ground with standing ovation shows. She has since graced stages internationally from live arenas to TV, such as The Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon on a Killer Mike performance of "RUN".
From humble beginnings with what would be considered statistically impossible odds, she worked her upbringing into her lyrically potent rhymes and slayed naysayers with the “I am the best” mentality of a winner—and she did—often. With a slew of awards from a TONY, EMMY, PEABODY, BEFFTA, SWAG, NATIONAL POETRY AWARD (NPA), ATL' S HOTTEST, BPU, a KUUMBA Award and more GeorgiaMe continues to collect her flowers from a fast-growing audience of fans. Her appearances have grown over the years due to her style of captivating a room, as noticed by and made Special Guest performer of Grammy winner Jill Scott´s 20-city tour. Her visibility grew exponentially after spots on NBC, VH1, BET, MTV, OXYGEN, CNN, ABC, and other national programs.
In addition to being a flagship member/writer/star of the groundbreaking Broadway cast of "Def Poetry Jam on Broadway" she was featured in seven episodes of Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry Jam on HBO. As well, GeorgiaMe has been featured as a part of BET´s Lyric Cafe ALL STAR TV and TV-1´s Verses & Flow Season One Finale. Notable achievements include being the only speaker at a luncheon for The Honorable Louis Farrakhan given during the Hip Hop Awards Weekend. Her engaging oration skills have placed her before students at over 200 colleges, universities, and K-12 schools nationwide.
In the span of her career, some of her proudest personal feats include live performances at every major venue in America from Radio City Music Hall, Kodak, Apollo, to the Fox and Orpheum theaters. Shows have been hosted in 44 of the 50 states of America and internationally she has graced stage and TV from Australia, England, Scotland, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Mexico, and South Africa.
As an actress her roles have included several independent films in addition to her debut in the Number #1 box office hit Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail.
Honors for GeorgiaMe continue to grow with recognition by Delta Sigma Theta with their KUUMBA Award Artist of The Year and proclamations by the cities of Atlanta, College Park, East Point, and with the entire County of Fulton declaring May 4th "Tamika GeorgiaMe Harper Day.” Ever an activist for her community and her art, she also sits as creator and executive producer of the Cultural Celebration "The TAMIKA FESTIVAL - The World's Largest Urban Cultural Fringe”. Her performance fellowshipping has been a part of spiritual gatherings as well, such as the Baha’i' Temple, the Masjid, and C.O.G.I.C. churches.
