Young Thug, Chuck D, Gamble & Huff & The NYT Greatest Songwriter List (Remix)

In this member-exclusive Remix episode, DJ Sir Daniel and Jay Ray dissect The New York Times’ list of the greatest living American songwriters, weighing Young Thug’s inclusion against traditional standards of lyricism and vocal melody. They also spotlight essential omissions in soul, hip-hop, and R&B—Gamble & Huff, Chuck D, Phonte, Kipper Jones, Brian Alexander Morgan, and Wendy & Lisa—while interweaving tracks like the O’Jays’ Love Train, Public Enemy’s Fight the Power, Brandy’s Baby, and SWV’s Weak to illustrate the enduring impact of these songwriting titans.
